SFTD recently invested in a 5 axis precision cylindrical grinding machine with integrated 3 axis robot loader, this machine is ideal for grinding core pins allowing for a diameter range of 0.025 – 25mm.
The Rollomatic NP50’s unique grinding system means it is possible for us to achieve a run out of 0.001mm on our products. Multiple functions can be carried out in one chucking set-up, we also have the ability to grind both threads and flats.
Precision and repeatability are monitored throughout production with a built in automated measuring system. The machine allows for automation of production, which drives efficiencies, delivering quicker turn around times for clients. The Rollomatic NP50 machine uses CBN grinding wheels which we dress on site with our Farman FC250 wheel dressing machine.
One of our most recent additions, the Robbi Omicron CNC 3206 machine. This machine can be equipped with automatic measurement devices to process complex components. Capable of both internal & external cylindrical grinding, this single set-up machine produces the best possible concentricity between external & internal diameters.
The Robbi Omicron CNC 3206 is fitted with a 60,000 RPM Fischer spindle which allows us to achieve surface finishes up to 0.02Ra and with a Renishaw referencing probe which is used in the set-up and measuring of components.
Another recent addition to our workshop, this fully automated centerless grinding machine has improved our capabilities in profile grinding.
Grinding wheels can be profile dressed with an automated dressing cycle to produce any 2D shape on our wheels. The ability to download profiles straight to the machine and offline programming has greatly improved our capabilities in this area of grinding. We have the capacity to turn any 2D profile into a cylindrical profile.
Concentricity can be held to less than 1μ (0.001mm) and the machine has the capacity to grind a diameter range of 0.1mm to 50mm.
Repeatability is the major benefit this machine has given SFTD, parts can be easily held to tolerances of +/- 0.001mm. The work holding fixture and accuracy of the automated dressing cycle guarantee repeatability during production for any size of batch.
